13 Dec Himmeli Ornament Making
Join us at at the Market of Misfits in Alserkal Avenue on December 18th for a free festive workshop. Himmeli are scandinavian straw ornaments, traditionally hung as chandeliers above the dining table from the holiday season till the mid-summer harvest. The most intricate Himmeli can be made up of hundreds, even thousands of pieces of straw like these awe-inspiring pieces by Eija Koski. During this introductory session we’ll use wheat straws to make a simple geometric diamond, which is the base for many more intricate ornaments. There are two slots available at 2 and 3pm, seats are limited and registration is required.

Launched in 2018, G&S is the brainchild of designer Natalya Konforti. After spending 8 years in China’s fast fashion industry designing garments manufactured by the hundreds of thousands, she yearned for the soul & personality of artisanal craftsmanship. Upon moving to Dubai, she decided to leverage the skills honed developing samples to help other ‘design junkies’ become self-sufficient.
