28 May Storytelling in Motion Monthly Workshop – June
Storytelling in Motion Monthly Workshop – June
Storytelling in Motion is a method for both understanding movement and using it to deliberately create meaningful stories.
In this workshop, we will take a few words or phrases shared by the participants, and build them into small movement stories using a mix of basic techniques. We will explore space and composition, gesture, and physicality as the main building blocks for creating meaning. Participatns will learn how movement is devised by the creator as well as how it is understood by the audience, and explore what it means to create movement with the intention of communication and connection. Previous workshop participants have said: “it was the best workshop I’ve ever had,” “really interesting how the layers are built up,” and “it’s really freeing to physicalize experiences, it helps process emotions in such a different way.” The workshop is appropriate for performance practitioners and beginners alike.
