Come join Mama Muna as she shares the history and beauty of Yemen and its culture through her cooking and her journey. Yemen, regarded as the origin of Arabs with 7,000 years of historic culture, is the melting pot of Asia, Africa and the Arabic Peninsula.
Mama Muna will be serving, among other dishes that developed throughout her journey, Zorbiyan. The very first dish she ever learned to cook at 11 years old, and has perfected it ever since. This is one of Yemen’s most famous dishes and is a mixture of Indian, African and Middle Eastern flavours.
On the menu this evening you will get to enjoy the following over a night of storytelling:
Starter
Shafoot :A bready creamy yoghurt with fresh coriander and mint topped with sweet grapes (veg)
Main:
Zorbiyan: Slow cooked Lamb marinated in aromatic Yemeni spices layered with smoked rice.
Kalonji : Saucy and fragrant aubergine stew (veg)
Roz Mubakhar: Smoked white rice infused with saffron (veg)
Sides:
Koshoumbar Salad, Lime Pickle and Spicy Green Chutney.
Dessert:
Mango Surprise A mixture of fresh fruits coated in a rich mango puree
